i’ve been thinking for awhile about having so many little ones under 6 years old. and about how much easier it’s gotten. and the things i’ve learned along the way. and that i should share them. because i would’ve given my right arm to learn some of these things, oh, you know, not the hard way. so here are a few. and i’ll update the list as new ones come to mind or i learn a new one, oh, you know, the hard way. please feel free to add to my list in the comments or by emailing me and i’ll try to pull some of ‘em out and post ‘em for others.
if you have 2 little ones very close in age or are expecting a second little one you know there is a certain amount of uncertainty (read: hysteria) involved. i know i could’ve used some advice or even just people that were going through what i was going through at the same time. so, here we are. hopefully you’ll find some encouragement, advice, or just a feeling of “huh, maybe i’m not such a freak for feeling this way, after all.”
if you have specific questions or just a vague “how do you do it?” please leave a comment or email me. because contrary to popular belief (not my children’s or my husband’s, obviously), i don’t have endless patience or a knack for organization (can anyone really have either of those with 4 little ones?!). i just know i still need folks i can turn to. so here’s a forum where that can happen.
if you’ve already been there, please let us in on your wisdom – we could really use it! or if you’re currently in the depths of diapers and sippy cups come join us – 2 sleep-deprived heads are better than one!
here are a few posts (listed, unfortunately, in no particular order – you know, there’s that organization!) i’ve written specifically on this topic. hope you enjoy! and, by all means, come join us – you don’t have to be perfect – just nice!

Hey! I have a 4 year old, a 2 year old, and a 7 month old, all girls. I am new to this blogging thing, and I’m glad to have stumbled onto another woman raising kids and following Jesus. My blog is called The Beautiful Ordinary, and I’ve posted some things about my little ones. We’re in Indiana, but awaiting “assignment from God” to move closer to home, which is Kentucky. Nice to “meet” you.

Is there a warning in there about toddlers pooping on the floor and then running their toy cars through it? Or standing on a pile of clean clothes and peeing all over it? Or how about finding a full water bottle in the van and pouring it all out on the seat as you drive down the highway. Been there, done that. I just keep telling him that it’s a good thing he’s so cute and I love him so doggone much!

I just found your blog via Heart of the Matter. Enjoyed your 2 under 2 posts…especially about the pregnancy stats. I like to tell people that I have either been pregnant or breastfeeding since 2001…seriously, it’s been one or the other with a little of both at the beginning of each pregnancy. I have boys who are 5 1/2, almost 4, and 2, and a darling little princess who is now 7 months old. We also get the “wow, you’ve got your hands full” comment a lot. Though one of my favorite moments happened recently at the zoo when a woman looked at me and with disbelief asked “are they ALL yours?!” To which I replied “yes…and we’re not even one of the exhibits!!” We both got a laugh out of that one.
