baby update

ok, i need to just call it “the update” because i obviously can’t get it together enough right now to post on the right day!

the camera came in the other day and i haven’t managed to get a picture of me and figure out how to post it yet. good grief.
i’m 29 weeks 5 days. that also makes me 8 months now.

the baby can now detect light, and will gain approximately another 4 pounds before birth. i go for my next check up next thursday. i will then have another 3 week visit and then i think i will start the every 2 weeks and then in the last month drop to the fun one week visits where they “check” me every time. fun. :)

i like how mandy has only gained one pound to bring her back up to her pre-pregnancy weight. i told her i was gaining for her. that means i’m eating for four. now that sounds better. since i’ve already gained what i should for the whole pregnancy!!

in other news…

we started back to school today. i’m so excited! for the last 3 months i’ve been winging it. i know what he needs to know by the end of the school year and acquired some curriculum from my sister-in-law and have just put it together to get us through. but since i like more structure – i’m really excited about having a plan. brandy let me borrow some really fun stuff and i’ve gotten most of my other supplies together and this weekend i’ll finish getting us completely ready. so, now i won’t just be teaching for the sake of teaching, i’ll be having fun doing it – and we started our lesson this week with a field trip saturday! and the curriculum i have now i can incorporate my 3 year old into it, my girl will have fun listening to the stories and going on our trips with us and we won’t have so much table time. have i mentioned i’m excited?!

we are growing ever closer to a mini-van. i would imagine we won’t get our tax info until after jan 31st, which will be what tells us what van we can get. and then the real search will be on! the kids were discussing the new baby coming and how we needed the van soon, and they said what if he comes before we get the van. and there was much disbelief that we would be getting a van of our very own. and i got really tickled. my 5 and 3 year olds can get the concept of a human being growing in my belly and that we’ll bring him home soon to live with us, but the concept of their parents buying a mini-van can’t be grasped! too funny!

(unconnected to the post but worth noting… heard from the couch, just now, while play fighting with action figures… daddy: “who do you think would win? godzilla or buzz lightyear?” my 3 year old: “uh, buzz lightyear” i love it! it’s just sweet!)
