thankfulness for big families and homeschooling

while reading “Charlotte’s Web” we got to the chapter titled “Loneliness” and i paused to ask the boys if they knew what loneliness meant.  “uh, no.”  so i explained.  and then i asked them if they’d ever felt lonely before. 
my oldest thought for a moment and said simply, “no.”

i can’t believe people actually travelled on a ship like this across the ocean.  with children.  and i think i get cabin fever during the winter.  i cannot imagine.
